Naturalization Program

This program initially started in March of 1997 to benefit immigrants seeking for U.S. citizenship. Under the State funded program, the WA State DSHS Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance, the Korean Women's Association has assisted the immigrants and refugees to become U.S. citizens in order to enjoy the rights and to receive other important benefits. The purpose of this program is to defending and to advancing the rights of immigrants and refugees through community education, advocacy, and immigration legal services to all persons, especially of low income. From March 1997 to December 2007, the Naturalization program has served clients for their Immigration related issues and has processed countless citizenship applications; over 1,400 students have become U.S. citizens. The clients' ages vary from 18 to 99 years old. Classes are taught by instructors from Mondays to Saturdays at various locations in Thurston, Snohomish, Pierce, King, Clark and Cowlitz Counties. September 2007, KWA expanded new citizenship services to the Vancouver area. So far, the KWA citizenship program has served 33 nationalities.
